What can derail us from our journey towards a healthy lifestyle?  Temptation.  The definition of temptation is a desire to do something, especially something wrong or unwise.  Satan is constantly trying to tempt us to drive our focus away from God.  This can feel like a constant battle while we are cutting out carbs, junk food, sugar, Starbuck’s, etc.  Your mind runs rampant as to what would it hurt if I cheated just a little, and why can’t I have these drinks and foods.  As God gives us free will to choose, you can have those things, but as a consequence you will gain weight.  Afterwards, you end up wasting time feeling guilty instead of having purposeful thoughts.  To avoid this downward spiral of weakness, it is imperative to seek God’s help to stay strong and overcome your desires.  James 1:3-4, “my brothers, consider it a great joy when trials of many kinds come upon you, for you well know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance, and perseverance must complete its work so that you will become fully developed, complete, not deficient in any way.”
